Daniele di Bonaventura was born in Fermo, in Italy's Marche region, in 1966. He started classical training at 8, studying piano, cello, composition, and orchestration, and earned a diploma in composing. He has built a career as both pianist and bandoneonist, the tango-associated accordion relative, working across classical, contemporary, jazz, tango, and world music, with additional credits in theater, cinema, and dance.

His most visible work sits alongside trumpeter Paolo Fresu, already profiled on jazzprofiles.com: they recorded Mistico Mediterraneo (2011) with A Filetta Corsican Voices, In Maggiore (2015) on ECM, and Danse Mémoire, Danse (2017). He has also recorded with Enrico Rava, Oliver Lake, David Murray, Miroslav Vitous, and Rita Marcotulli, and paired with accordionist Gianni Coscia on 2018's Sospiri Sospesi. He has performed from New York's Town Hall to Paris's Salle Pleyel, across more than 20 countries on five continents.

His catalog runs past 90 albums, on labels including Via Veneto Jazz, Felmay, Splasc(H), and Harmonia Mundi, spanning solo bandoneon records, string quartet collaborations, and Piazzolla and Jobim tribute projects.
