JazzProfiles.com (this "site") is a production of Siel ltd. ("we," "us"). This page explains what data the site collects, what it doesn't, and how the small amount it does touch is handled. We've kept this short because the site itself is simple: there are no user accounts, no comment system, and no forms that submit personal data to us.
Directly, almost nothing. The site doesn't require registration, doesn't run a comment system, and has no on-site form that transmits personal information to us. If you email info@jazzprofiles.com or reach out through one of our Reddit communities, that message goes through your own email provider or Reddit account under their respective privacy policies, not ours — we simply read what you send.
The site sets exactly one cookie: a preference for dark or light display mode, so your choice is remembered on your next visit. It stores nothing about you personally, expires after one year, and is not used for tracking or advertising. You can clear or block it at any time in your browser's settings without affecting your ability to use the site — it'll just default back to dark mode.
We do not currently run any analytics, advertising, or visitor-tracking scripts on this site. If that changes in the future, this page will be updated to say so before it happens.
Most of what this site does is link out: to Spotify and YouTube for listening, to Discogs, AllMusic, and Wikipedia for sourcing, to Amazon and other retailers for purchasing, and to Reddit for community discussion. Clicking any of these takes you to a site we don't control, governed by that site's own privacy policy — we'd encourage reading it if you're concerned. Some outbound links (for example, to Amazon) may at times be affiliate links, meaning we can earn a small commission if you make a purchase after clicking through; the destination site may set its own cookies as part of that, separate from anything on jazzprofiles.com itself.
The site is hosted on Netlify. As with essentially any web host, this means standard technical information (things like IP address, browser type, and which pages were requested) may be logged automatically as part of normal server operation. We don't maintain a separate analytics dashboard beyond what basic hosting provides.
This site isn't directed at children and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
If how the site handles data ever changes — adding analytics, for instance — we'll update this page and its "last updated" date rather than changing practices silently.
Questions about this policy, or a request about your own data, can go to info@jazzprofiles.com.
