Palle Danielsson was a Swedish double bassist best known as a member of Keith Jarrett's "European Quartet" (also called the "Belonging Quartet") from 1974 to 1979, alongside saxophonist Jan Garbarek and drummer Jon Christensen. Danielsson came to Jarrett's and ECM founder Manfred Eicher's attention through his playing on Jan Garbarek and Bobo Stenson's 1974 album Witchi-Tai-To. He went on to work with a wide range of European and American jazz figures, including Lee Konitz and drummer Peter Erskine's trio.

Danielsson died on May 18, 2024.

Danielsson's playing helped define the lyrical, spacious "ECM sound" of European jazz in the 1970s, most fully realized in his work with Keith Jarrett's European Quartet.
