Lewis Saccocci was born in Rome in 1989 and began studying classical piano at a young age, later perfecting his craft at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome, where he graduated cum laude in Jazz Piano. His teachers there and afterward included Daniela Morelli, Stefano Sabatini, Danilo Rea, Amedeo Tommasi and Cinzia Gizzi.

His earliest documented recording credits come from 2015 and 2016: the Robertinho de Paula quartet (GB SmoothNotes, 2015) and the Reinaldo Santiago Quintet's No Name (AlfaMusic, 2016), the latter featuring trumpeter Antonello Sorrentino. In 2016 he also formed Jimbo Tribe, a piano trio with double bassist Dario Piccioni and drummer Nicolo Di Caro, whose debut Jimbology (AlfaMusic, 2016) mixed original Saccocci compositions with arrangements of pieces by Kenny Wheeler and Sam Rivers; the group's sound was described in the Italian press as drawing on Avishai Cohen, Brad Mehldau and Robert Glasper. Jimbo Tribe took second place in the bands section of the "Chicco Bettinardi" award in Piacenza in 2015 and followed up with a second album, Rite of Passage (AlfaMusic, 2018), which added a Miles Davis composition to the repertoire and brought back Antonello Sorrentino as a guest on trumpet.

Alongside Jimbo Tribe, Saccocci led a separate trio called Bear Trip with bassist and synthesizer player Gianmarco Tomai and drummer Nicolo Di Caro, releasing a self-titled album on Emme Record Label in 2018 that Discogs files under Jazz with a Fusion style tag. As a sideman he plays piano on Paolo Damiani's Silenzi Luterani (Alfa Music, 2019), confirmed at the Discogs credit level alongside saxophonist Daniele Tittarelli, vocalist Laura Sciocchetti and others. His own professional biography also lists a 2019 recording with the Matthew Herbert Big Band, The State Between Us (Accidental Records), and a 2020 date with the Laura Sciocchetti quartet, Characters (Filibusta Records); neither credit is itemized under his name on Discogs, though both albums and his presence in their track-level Spotify credits are independently confirmed. More recently he plays keyboards and synthesizer on Electric Sheep Collective's Nope-Hope (Time Is The Enemy, 2022) and piano on Roberto Bottalico's Cosi e (se vi pare). A Jazz Poem (Filibusta Records, 2026), both Discogs-verified.

Saccocci's own biography and press coverage name a wide circle of Italian jazz musicians he has performed or recorded with beyond those credits, among them Roberto Gatto, Gabriele Mirabassi, Fabrizio Bosso, Ettore Fioravanti, Franco Piana, Antonello Salis and Carla Marcotulli, along with drummer Bruce Ditmas, guitarist Davide Pettirossi, trombonist Marcello Rosa, bassist Massimo Moriconi and saxophonist Maurizio Giammarco. None of these is itemized as a credit on his own Discogs artist entry, so they are reported here as biography-sourced rather than session-verified. He has performed at Umbria Jazz, the Roccella Jazz Festival, the Pozzuoli Jazz Festival, the Maratea Jazz Festival, Tuscia in Jazz, Piacenza Jazz Festival, Bari Jazz, Acuto Jazz, the Fara Music Festival, "Il Jazz Italiano per le Terre del Sisma" and Rome's Casa del Jazz, and teaches at the Accademia Romana di Musica in Rome.

In 2025 Saccocci released his debut as a leader, Inceptum (WoW Records, March 2, 2025), his first recording on Hammond organ and the first billed entirely under his own name. Fronting an organ trio with guitarist Enrico Bracco and drummer Valerio Vantaggio, the album collects eight original compositions, preceded by the singles "Il Prenestinato" (February 21, 2025) and "One for Sara" (February 28, 2025), and was launched live at Casa del Jazz in Rome on the day of release. Reviewing the record for Mescalina, Vittorio Formenti placed Saccocci's organ playing in the lineage of Jimmy Smith, Larry Young and Joey DeFrancesco while noting a modern, metropolitan character to the writing, with Bracco's guitar pushing the melody and Vantaggio's drums favoring texture and effects over straight timekeeping.

Saccocci's recorded output splits between two distinct settings. With Jimbo Tribe he worked in an acoustic piano-trio idiom that Italian critics tied to the melodic, harmonically open postbop of Avishai Cohen, Brad Mehldau and Robert Glasper, alongside arrangements of repertoire by Kenny Wheeler, Sam Rivers and Miles Davis. Since Inceptum (2025) he has worked mainly as a Hammond organ player, and that record's reviewers hear the classic soul-jazz organ-trio lineage of Jimmy Smith, Larry Young and Joey DeFrancesco updated with a more contemporary, urban compositional sensibility. His side project Bear Trip leaned further into jazz-fusion, and his sideman work spans traditional Italian jazz composition (Paolo Damiani), vocal jazz (Laura Sciocchetti) and, per his own biography, a large-scale international big-band commission (the Matthew Herbert Big Band).
