Mihyang Moon (문미향) is a South Korean jazz vocalist who sings the standards in the tradition of Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan. Her debut album, I Wished On The Moon (October 6, 2023), is eleven standards, and it earned her two nominations at the 21st Korean Music Awards, held in Seoul on February 29, 2024: Best Jazz Vocal Album, and Rookie of the Year, a category otherwise filled by pop acts such as the winner Kiss of Life and H1-Key. A four-song EP, EVERMOON, followed on February 16, 2025. She is billed MIHYANG MOON on Apple Music, on Poclanos and in the credits of her records; Korean-language press prints 문미향, the Korea Herald writes Moon Mi-hyang, and English Wikipedia uses both spellings. She is a different singer from Moon Haewon, the former Winterplay vocalist who records as MOON.

Very little has been published about her early life. Her date and place of birth are not given in any source found. The Korea Herald, in a feature of October 14, 2024, says her interest in jazz began in middle school and that she moved from Daegu to Seoul, where she knew nobody in the music business; after performing at a jazz club while she was in college she decided to become a professional jazz musician. An artist agency's profile lists a degree from the graduate school of practical music at Dongguk University (practical music major) and a completed Kodály music educator course at the Liszt Academy of Music in Hungary. The same profile and a page of the CJ Cultural Foundation both say the monthly magazine Jazz People named her a Rising Star of 2022 in the vocal category, and the agency profile lists her festival work from 2021 on, beginning with the 2021 Jazz in Daegu festival with her quintet.

The debut album is built around the bassist Daeho Kim (김대호), who co-produced it. The CJ Cultural Foundation, which listed her in the 25th group of its Tune Up programme for emerging musicians (the entry is dated March 20, 2024), names Kwak Jeong-min (곽정민), Na Young-chan (나영찬) and Seok Da-yeon (석다연) among the musicians, and the singer Wonmoo Heo (허원무) joins her on the closing "In The Still Of The Night," a performance with piano alone. The mixing and mastering were done by Chris Allen at Sear Sound in New York. According to the same page, the title song and "Easy Living" are arranged without drums in the manner of Nat King Cole's trio, with an outro to "Easy Living" whose lyrics she wrote herself; "What A Little Moonlight Can Do" and "I'm Old Fashioned" are fast swingers, "Detour Ahead" and "Sophisticated Lady" are slow ballads, "The Nearness Of You" nods to Ahmad Jamal's "Poinciana," "Skylark" is played in a straight-eighth feel, and "The Night We Called It A Day" is a bossa nova. A gatefold LP edition on Machang Music & Pictures (PO24V00017), distributed by Poclanos, is dated 2024.

Her 2024 was spent on stage and on a series of singles built around the seasons. Kyunghyang Sports reported in November 2024 that after a showcase early in the year she had played the Seoul Jazz Festa, the Ulsan Taehwagang jazz festival, the Play Jazz Festival and the Jarasum Jazz Festival, and her agency profile adds Jeonju, Chuncheon and Suncheon dates, all with her quintet or quartet. On May 12, 2024 she gave an afternoon concert with Daeho Kim at YAGI Studio in Seoul's Gangnam district. The singles were "Spring Can Really Hang You Up The Most" (April 25), "Estate" (August 8, with the bandoneon player Koh Sangji, 고상지) and "'Tis Autumn" (November 7, with the New York pianist Dan Nimmer and his trio); Marie Claire Korea, writing on December 4, 2024, called the run a four-seasons series. "Winter Moon" completed it on the EP EVERMOON in February 2025, produced by Daeho Kim and herself with all arrangements by him. On December 1, 2024 she shared a double bill with the vocalist Lim Chae-hee, and that month she toured a Christmas programme, I Wished On The Christmas Moon, to Seoul, Suwon, Sejong, Chuncheon and Daegu, which a later report says sold out in Suwon and Seoul.

In 2025, according to K Spirit, she was invited to the Seoul Jazz Festival and the Busan Jazz Festa and to a solo concert curated by Yoo Hee-yeol for Hyundai Card. She repeated the Christmas tour that December, with dates on December 20 in Ulsan, December 21 in Sejong, December 24 in Gwangju and December 25 in Jeonju, with a quintet of Kwak Jeong-min on piano, Daeho Kim on bass, Na Young-chan on guitar and two drummers, Kim Tae-sun and Kim Sung-hwa; the carol "Winter Wonderland" was released as a digital single on December 1, 2025. This October she was at the Jarasum Jazz Festival again, where an OhmyNews report of October 16, 2026 says she and Daeho Kim improvised with the AI pianist Scat in the festival's Jazz AI Lounge, and on October 18, 2026 her trio closed a five-day series of free concerts in the lobby of the Heungkuk Life Insurance Building in Gwanghwamun, linked to the Georg Baselitz exhibition at Sehwa Museum, playing "I Wish You Love," "I Only Have Eyes for You" and "Chega de Saudade." The saxophonist Kim Oki played the day before.

What is not known: her birth date and birthplace, the name of the college where she studied, the names of her trio's other members, and the credits of the 2024 LP beyond the label and catalogue number. All of her releases so far are standards; in October 2024 she told the Korea Herald she hoped to share original music and to perform abroad.

She is a standards singer. The CJ Cultural Foundation page names Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan and Billie Holiday as her influences, her agency describes her as continuing that line of traditional jazz vocal, and Marie Claire Korea praised a plain, unfussy delivery. In the Korea Herald interview she said there are more than 3,000 well-known standards that have been passed down and reinterpreted countless ways, and that she keeps listening, analysing and practising to find her own voice inside them. She prizes live jazz for its spontaneity, since every performance changes with the musicians and the audience, and she has noticed more people in their twenties coming to jazz festivals.

Kyunghyang Sports described her and Lim Chae-hee as singers of the same age who both sing standards and are known for warm, relaxed moods, and Korean Wikipedia says she draws a younger audience than is usual in jazz. Her settings are small: a drumless arrangement on the debut's title song, a string quartet and flute behind "Spring Can Really Hang You Up The Most," a bandoneon on "Estate," a New York piano trio on "'Tis Autumn." Her records are filed as jazz; Discogs tags the LP Smooth Jazz.
