Jesper Bodilsen is a Danish double bassist who studied under the legendary Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen and went on to become one of Denmark's most in-demand jazz bassists. He spent thirteen years working alongside drummer Ed Thigpen, including six albums recorded with pianist Carsten Dahl, and has since collaborated with Lee Konitz, Joe Lovano, Brad Mehldau, and Bill Frisell.

Bodilsen co-leads a long-running trio with Italian pianist Stefano Bollani and Danish drummer Morten Lund, with whom he recorded the 2004 album Mi Ritorni In Mente and the 2014 album Joy in Spite of Everything (the latter expanded with saxophonist Mark Turner and guitarist Bill Frisell).

Trained in the Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen lineage of Danish bass playing, Bodilsen's work spans the Copenhagen post-bop mainstream (via his long tenure with Ed Thigpen and Carsten Dahl) and the more exploratory, lyrical trio format he shares with Stefano Bollani and Morten Lund.
