Jeremy Corren was born and raised in Los Angeles. In 2013 he moved to New York to attend Columbia University, where he studied composition and orchestration with Zosha Di Castri, Georg Friedrich Haas and George E. Lewis, a training in concert writing rather than in a conservatory jazz program. While still a student he attended the Banff workshop for improvised music, where he worked with Vijay Iyer, Mark Turner and Tyshawn Sorey. His birth year is not confirmed by any published source.

His first recording credit came out of New York's free-improvisation circle rather than the mainstream scene he later joined. The drummer Dre Hocevar booked a nine-piece band into Systems Two Studios in Brooklyn on January 25 and 26, 2016, and the resulting album, Transcendental Within The Sphere Of Indivisible Remainder, appeared on the Portuguese label Clean Feed that November. Corren plays piano across the whole record, in a group that also carried Zack Clarke on synthesizer, Sam Pluta on electronics, Mette Rasmussen and Bryan Qu on saxophones, Aaron Larson Tevis on trumpet, Lester St. Louis on cello and Henry Fraser on bass, with Michael Carvin producing.

The chair that made his name was the piano seat in Joel Ross's Good Vibes, the band Ross assembled after moving to New York in 2015. Corren is on the group's studio debut, KingMaker, recorded in December 2016 and held until Blue Note released it on May 3, 2019, alongside Immanuel Wilkins on alto saxophone, Ben Tiberio on bass and Jeremy Dutton on drums. He returned for Who Are You? (October 23, 2020), where Kanoa Mendenhall took over the bass chair and Brandee Younger added harp, and where his credit extends to Rhodes as well as acoustic piano. He is not on Ross's octet suite The Parable of the Poet (2022), which used Sean Mason at the piano, but he came back for nublues, cut at The Bunker Studio in Brooklyn and issued on February 9, 2024, and for the sextet album Gospel Music, released January 30, 2026, with Josh Johnson and María Grand on saxophones. The same band recorded Lee Morgan's "Dear Sir" for Blue Note Review, Volume Three, the limited box set Don Was curated and released on November 6, 2024.

His own catalog is small and deliberately unlike the Blue Note work. Country of Clouds, released on Bandcamp on March 23, 2020, is a seven-piece trio program with Kanoa Mendenhall on bass and Dayeon Seok on drums, recorded at Big Orange Sheep in Brooklyn and mixed and mastered by Michael Perez Cisneros. It carries no label and has never been issued to streaming services. Two at the Most followed on Turtle Bay Records on June 30, 2023, a duo record co-billed with the vocalist Tatiana Eva-Marie and built entirely from the American songbook, with ballads including "The End of a Love Affair," "Penthouse Serenade," Duke Ellington's "I Got It Bad" and "The Nearness of You," and a guest vocal from Mark Buchan on two tracks. Reviewing it for The Syncopated Times on August 31, 2023, Scott Yanow singled out Corren's versatility and his use of stride piano.

Since 2021 he has held the piano chair in the bassist Or Bareket's working band. Sahar, recorded June 10 to 12, 2021 and released by Enja on May 6, 2022, is a quartet with Morgan Guerin on tenor saxophone, organ and electronic wind instrument and Savannah Harris on drums, produced by Joel Ross. Yom, recorded at Firehouse 12 in New Haven, Connecticut on September 20 and 21, 2024 and released on October 23 that year, replaces Guerin with Godwin Louis on alto and soprano saxophone and adds an arranging credit for Corren, one shared equally by all four members of the band and by Ross, who produced the record and wrote its liner notes without playing on it. One of its pieces, "II (For Richard Davis + Henry Grimes)," was written by Nicole Glover, who does not appear on the recording.

Alongside the piano work he writes concert music. His pieces have been performed by the Wet Ink Ensemble, the TAK Ensemble and the Mivos Quartet, and at New Music on the Point and the Valencia International Performance Academy and Festival. He works as a software developer as well. As a performer he appears regularly at the Blue Note, Smalls Jazz Club and The Jazz Gallery in New York, has played the Newport and Chicago Jazz Festivals, and has toured to the Blue Note rooms in Tokyo, Shanghai and Beijing, the North Sea Jazz Festival in the Netherlands, Umbria Jazz in Italy, Duc des Lombards in Paris and Porgy and Bess in Vienna.

Corren works from the bottom of the texture rather than the top, which is why he has lasted in two bands that already have a strong melodic voice out front. In Good Vibes his job is the one Joel Ross deliberately vacates: Ross plays with two mallets and leaves the harmony alone, so the chords, the pedal points and the density of the middle register are Corren's to set, and on Who Are You? he switches to Rhodes when the acoustic sound would crowd the vibraphone. The trio writing on Country of Clouds runs the other way, slow and largely rubato, closer to the ambient and improvised end of the piano-trio tradition than to a blowing date, and it is the clearest evidence in his playing of the composition training at Columbia. On Two at the Most he plays a straightforwardly historical piano, stride included, behind a singer working the American songbook, which is a fourth register again. The through line is a player who adjusts his function to the band rather than importing a fixed style, and who came into the music through Georg Friedrich Haas and George E. Lewis on one side and the Brooklyn free-improvisation scene on the other before he ever recorded a mainstream date.
