Valentina Fin is a jazz vocalist, composer and teacher from Vicenza, in Italy's Veneto region. She began vocal studies at 13 under Maestro Roberto Clerici at the Accademia del Canto in Arzignano, then at 19 enrolled at the Thelonious School of Music in Vicenza, studying jazz singing for three years with Francesca Bertazzo Hart. She went on to earn a bachelor's degree in Jazz Singing from the Conservatorio Arrigo Pedrollo in Vicenza, graduating with top honors on February 22, 2017 with a concert built around the music of Norma Winstone, and later a master's degree in Jazz Singing from the same conservatory in 2023. She has since completed a further academic program in Renaissance and Baroque singing and holds separate degrees in Cultural Heritage Conservation and Management from the University of Trento and in Arts Management from the Sole24Ore Business School in Milan. She now teaches jazz singing and music fundamentals at Thelonious Vicenza, the school where she trained.

Fin debuted on record with the vocal quintet Rame, releasing two albums together (2018 and 2022). As a bandleader she founded the trio behind Tumiza (2019), a project that grew out of a 2015 meeting with vocalist Norma Winstone (not profiled on jazzprofiles.com) and takes its name from "Azimuth" (Winstone's trio with John Taylor and Kenny Wheeler) spelled backward; the trio, with pianist Francesco Pollon and saxophonist Manuel Caliumi, won first prize at the Barga Jazz Contest in 2020 along with the festival's Targa Luca Flores for best soloist, and later took the best-soloist prize at the Sibiu Jazz Contest in Romania. She released the string-quartet-and-piano project KURT! in 2021 and her first album as a solo leader, A Chi Esita, in 2023.

In 2021 Fin took part in pianist Stefano Battaglia's Laboratori Permanenti di Ricerca Musicale, the artistic research workshop he runs at the Siena Jazz Academy, recording An Artist's Life Manifesto (Aut Records, 2023) as vocalist and co-producer alongside Battaglia and four other participants, a year-long collective study of Marina Abramovic's text of the same name. In 2022 she won the Veneto Jazz "Tomorrow's Jazz" award and took second prize at the Riga Jazz Stage competition, which led to a European tour that summer; that same year she was selected for the Sewem (Sino-European Women Entrepreneurs in Music) mentorship program. In December 2020 she co-founded Bacan, an association running a European artistic residency program for jazz musicians, for which she later mentored under the ECSA-AEC Mentorship Programme.

She has also appeared as a guest vocalist on recordings led by other musicians: Il Testamento dell'Albero (Caligola, 2023), guitarist Marcello Abate's tribute to pianist Marco Birro (1993-2020) with bassist Matteo Padoin and drummer Daniele Patton, featuring Pietro Tonolo and Robert Bonisolo on saxophones; and Italian Mottetto (Caligola, 2026), Francesco Chiapperini's quartet reworking of Giulio Caccini's Renaissance repertoire for bass clarinet, voice, violin and double bass. She has also performed in "Chamber Winds," a saxophone-quartet reimagining of American art song (Ives, Copland, Barber, Rorem, Hersch) led by Tonolo and arranged by saxophonist Rossano Emili, premiered at the 2025 BargaJazz Festival; this collaboration is documented in festival and press coverage rather than a Discogs credit. Her most recent project, Negli stessi fiumi (developed from a 2023-2024 artistic residency at Campolongo sul Brenta), blends Renaissance madrigals and vocal polyphony with jazz improvisation, created with jazz vocalist Angela Centanin, guitarist Alberto Rassu and guitarist Leonardo Franceschini under the mentorship of Cristina Zavalloni; that mentorship is attested in a Musica Jazz interview rather than a shared recording credit. She is a visiting researcher at the Orpheus Instituut in Ghent and is pursuing doctoral research connecting early-music and contemporary vocal practice.

Fin's work runs on two parallel tracks that she treats as genuinely separate languages in "relation, not fusion" rather than blended into one hybrid style: a straight-ahead and free-improvising jazz vocal practice rooted in the Norma Winstone/Azimuth lineage (heard on Tumiza and in her Barga and Riga competition sets), and a second line of work bringing Renaissance and Baroque vocal repertoire and rhetoric into contact with jazz improvisation and contemporary vocal technique (Negli stessi fiumi, her Renaissance and Baroque singing diploma). Her two Discogs-documented guest appearances sit at the more exploratory end of that spectrum: Discogs tags An Artist's Life Manifesto Avant-Garde Jazz and Contemporary Jazz, a free-improvisation project born from Stefano Battaglia's own research workshop, while Italian Mottetto pairs her voice with bass clarinet, violin and double bass reworking 16th-century Caccini material, a jazz-and-early-music crossover that Discogs catalogs under both Jazz and Classical genre tags.
