Vittorio Solimene is a jazz pianist and composer born in Naples on January 9, 1998, and based in Rome. He started classical piano at twelve and moved toward jazz a few years later: at fifteen he was admitted to the three-year jazz piano program at the Saint Louis College of Music in Rome, studying piano with Dario Zeno, Pierpaolo Principato, Alessandro Gwis and Roberto Tarenzi and ensemble playing with Maurizio Giammarco and Rosario Giuliani. He went on to a master's degree in jazz piano at the Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia in Rome, graduating in June 2020 with the maximum score of 110/110 and honors.

He made his recording debut as a leader with Urlo Piano (AUAND, 2019), a piano trio with double bassist Francesco Ponticelli and drummer Riccardo Gambatesa that also includes readings of Wayne Shorter's "El Gaucho" and Denny Zeitlin's "Quiet Now." In 2023 he formed a working quartet with alto saxophonist Lorenzo Simoni, double bassist Alessandro Bintzios and drummer Michele Santoleri, releasing the album Alexithymia (Wow Records, October 2023); Musica Jazz's review described the record moving between chamber-like writing and jazz drive, shaped by what the magazine called "strictly emotional" origins. The same quartet, billed as the Vittorio Solimene 4tet, won the inaugural Italia Jazz Club Music Contest on October 11-12, 2024, at the Cotton Jazz Club in Ascoli Piceno, judged by a jury that included drummer Roberto Gatto and pianist Giovanni Guidi; the prize was a run of eight concerts across the Italia Jazz Club circuit of venues.

In 2024 he also co-led Underbrush (Gleam Records) with saxophonist Federico Chiarofonte and bassist Alessandro Bintzios, a trio record of Chiarofonte's compositions that Discogs tags Jazz and Avant-garde Jazz. His most recent album as leader is Letter to... (Encore Music, 2025), recorded in May 2025 at Cicaleto Recording Studio in Arezzo with the same quartet of Simoni, Bintzios and Santoleri, joined by guests Cosimo Boni on trumpet and Ava Alami on voice. Its ten original compositions reinterpret letters written by historical figures and people close to Solimene, a concept he has said he plans to bring to dates across Europe in 2027.

Alongside his own records, Solimene has built a substantial career as a sideman, documented on Discogs on piano, Fender Rhodes electric piano and Hammond organ across more than a decade of Italian jazz releases. His longest-running outside relationship is with double bassist and composer Dario Piccioni, on whose albums he has played piano four times: Limesnauta (Caligola, 2019), Carpet Stories (AUAND, 2021), Hortus Del Rio (Filibusta Records, 2023) and Rabdomantis (BNC Music, 2026). He also appears on Edoardo Liberati's Everyday Life (Gleam Records, 2022), alongside Lorenzo Simoni and trumpeter Iacopo Teolis; the quintet record Introducing Wasted Generation (Gleam Records, 2023), on which Teolis is also a bandmate; Antonio Ottaviano's Bright As The Sun (Emme Record Label, 2023); the Nicola Di Tommaso Trio's Learn Something New (Filibusta Records, 2024); and vocalist Gegè Telesforo's Big Mama Legacy (Ropeadope, 2024), on which he plays organ and piano. His most recent sideman credit is Iacopo Teolis's debut as a leader, The Moving Forest (Parco della Musica Records, 2025), on which he plays piano and Rhodes.

Solimene's writing for his own groups favors a small acoustic combo, trio or quartet, built around original compositions rather than standards, and reviewers have consistently placed it between chamber music and jazz: Musica Jazz heard Alexithymia oscillating between "chamber-like compositions and jazz consciousness," and Letter to... is explicitly conceptual, built from an extra-musical source, letters, rather than a conventional set of tunes. His sideman work runs in a more exploratory, contemporary-jazz direction, documented across labels, AUAND, Caligola and Filibusta Records among them, that specialize in that end of the Italian scene, and his keyboard work there extends from acoustic piano to Fender Rhodes and Hammond organ.
