Amir Bresler was born November 8, 1989 in Rishon LeZion. He got his first real exposure to jazz at 15, at the Thelma-Yellin National High School of the Arts in Givatayim. In 2010, at 20, he joined bassist Avishai Cohen's touring band, and from there built one of the busiest session careers in Israeli jazz: over 60 Discogs-indexed studio and producer credits since, including records by Omer Klein, Daniel Zamir, Gilad Hekselman, Nitai Hershkovits, and Amos Hoffman.

He didn't release music under his own name until 2017, when the single "Afro Golden Line" arrived, seven years into his professional career, featuring fellow Israeli musicians Sefi Zisling on trumpet and Uzi Ramirez on guitar. His first full leader album, House of Arches, followed in 2022, built from single-day recording sessions at a rural venue outside Tel Aviv actually named The House of Arches, with a rotating lineup including keyboardist/producer Rejoicer, Yemen Blues frontman Ravid Kahalani, bassist Gilad Abro, pianist Nomok, and Zisling again.

His two leader albums since keep the same pattern of serious rotating collaborators rather than a fixed band: Life & Fire (2023, WEA), a trio record with pianist Omer Klein and bassist Haggai Cohen Milo, and Tide & Time (2025, Raw Tapes/Enja/Yellowbird), an acoustic trio session featuring pianist Nitai Hershkovits.

Bresler's drumming sits primarily in post-bop and modern jazz fusion contexts, shaped heavily by his years in Avishai Cohen's band, but his own leader work pulls in Afrobeat, funk, and Middle Eastern rhythmic influences, most directly on Afro Golden Line (explicitly inspired by 1970s Ghanaian and Nigerian highlife music) and House of Arches (built around collaborators from outside straight jazz, including Yemen Blues's Ravid Kahalani). As a leader, he works less as a fixed-band composer and more as a producer/curator, assembling different serious Israeli musicians around a session concept for each record.
