Omri Ido Bar Giora is a Jerusalem-born guitarist, composer, and multi-instrumentalist who earned a BFA in Jazz/Contemporary Music from the New School (New York City), graduating with honors in May 2023. Per his own biography distributed by All About Jazz, he has worked in Israel and New York with a roster that includes bassist Reggie Workman, drummer Matt Wilson, guitarist Steve Cardenas, and saxophonist Daniel Zamir, names presented here as self-reported rather than independently discography-verified (see notes.md).

His longest-running musical partnership is with harmonica player Ariel Bart: the two have known each other since childhood, began performing together in high school, and developed a duo repertoire of original compositions and arrangements during the COVID period. Billed as Ariel Bart and Omri Bar Giora, they released their debut duo album, Deep Down, in May 2024, and performed it on the Woodland Stage of the Jerusalem Jazz Festival. The Jerusalem Jazz Festival's own event listing describes the project as "a warm and gentle guitar and harmonica duo playing music with a sense of romance and quiet intimacy," music that "explores the creative boundaries between guitar and harmonica."

Bar Giora's own catalogue as a leader is small and largely self-released. His debut EP, Song for Miki (June 27, 2021), was recorded live and dedicated to the visual artist Mika Hedaya, who supplied the cover art; a year earlier, the single "Season" (June 24, 2020) paired him with vocalist Hila Rabby, with Bar Giora contributing lyrics, composition, vocals, piano, and electric guitars. He also leads the Omri Bar Giora Quartet, which recorded the original "One for John" (May 31, 2020) at Mitzlol Studios with harmonica player Roni Eytan, bassist Menachem Welt, and drummer Amir Bar Akiva.

In New York, Bar Giora co-leads Cobbs, a Brooklyn jazz fusion band with drummer Ben Freidkin, keyboardist Julia Chen, and bassist Noam Tanzer. Cobbs began as a tribute act covering fusion repertoire before shifting to original material; its debut EP, First Attempt, three tracks recorded live in Brooklyn, was released November 12, 2023. His most substantial recorded sideman credit is on drummer-composer Rintaro Mikami's debut album First Fish (released September 15, 2023), where he plays guitar on eight of the album's nine tracks alongside pianist Henry Plotnick, bassist Bar Filipowicz, and tenor saxophonist David Truilo (with Ariel Bart guesting on harmonica on the closing track, "Deer's Dream"). Reviewing the album for JazzTrail, Filipe Freitas singled out Bar Giora directly, describing "alternate improvisations between guitarist Omri Bar Giora, pianist Henry Plotnick, and saxophonist David Truilo" on the track "Derailing," and crediting "guitar sounds with a taste of fusion" on "Secession." The music video for the title track "First Fish" won Best Jazz Song and Best Lyrics Song at the 18th season of the Munich Music Video Awards.

Most recently, Bar Giora joined two fellow Jerusalem-raised guitarists, Omri Porat and Yehonatan Alloro Levy, in a trio billed in Hebrew as "Chai Meitarim" ("18 Strings," a reference to three six-string guitars), self-described as guitarist friends since high school whose "musical dialogue draws from styles across the globe: from the Middle East to Spain, from India to New York." The trio released the single "Tides" on November 14, 2025, and has performed at the Amama Jazz club in Tel Aviv.

Separately from his jazz work, Bar Giora has a recurring session-guitar credit in the Israeli film and television world, appearing in the music department on The Go-Go Boys: The Inside Story of Cannon Films (2014), Spotting Yossi (2019), Queen Shoshana (2021), and two 2024 music videos. Public sourcing confirms that veteran Israeli film composer Jonathan Bar-Giora scored at least Queen Shoshana, and a 2019 Discogs-logged session credits an "Omri Bar Giora" (guitar) and a "Jonathan Bar-Giora" (piano) side by side on the same track of composer Ishai Adar's Film Music; a family relationship between the two Bar Gioras is plausible but not independently confirmed by any source consulted for this build (see notes.md). Bar Giora's music sits closer to the crossover end of the jazz spectrum than to a straight-ahead mainstream. His formal training is squarely in jazz (a New School Jazz/Contemporary Music BFA earned under faculty that includes Reggie Workman), and his most substantial outside credit, guitar on Rintaro Mikami's First Fish, sits inside a band Discogs itself tags Jazz (styles: Contemporary Jazz, Free Improvisation, Jazz-Rock, Swing). His own working groups extend outward from there: Cobbs is an explicitly billed "jazz fusion" band; the Deep Down duo with Ariel Bart is tagged on Bandcamp as spanning "jazz, world music" and was described by the Jerusalem Jazz Festival as intimate and song-like rather than a blowing session; and the Tides guitar trio with Omri Porat and Yehonatan Alloro Levy is explicitly framed around Middle Eastern, Spanish, and Indian musical traditions absorbed through travel, closer to world/fusion guitar music than to a jazz combo. Read across his whole output, Bar Giora reads as a jazz-trained guitarist whose own composing voice leans toward gentle, melodic, world-inflected instrumental music, with genuine jazz-fusion and straight-ahead sideman credentials running alongside it rather than as his main public output.
