Daniel Dor was born in 1986 in Tel Aviv to a family of musicians and artists, and built his first drum set out of pots and pans at 10. He trained at the Thelma Yellin High School of the Arts and the Rimon School for Jazz and Contemporary Music, then graduated with honors from the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York.

He has performed at festivals and halls worldwide alongside Avishai Cohen, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Noa, Daniel Zamir, Billy Harper, and Matisyahu. On record, he is a recurring drummer for pianist Nitai Hershkovits, appearing on Hershkovits's 2016 album I Asked You a Question before being co-billed on two more recent projects, The Garden Suite (2024) and Found & Found (2026). He has also recorded with Yotam Silberstein and Or Bareket, both already profiled on jazzprofiles.com, and with Spanish saxophonist Marta Sánchez's quintet across two albums.

In 2020 he relocated to the American Southwest, a move that produced Four Petals (2023, Raw Tapes Records), a solo piano album built around a rhythmic method of his own devising that he calls The Flower. He now teaches that method as a lecturer at the Jerusalem Academy of Dance and Music.

Dor's work spans conventional post-bop drumming in a range of ensembles and a more personal, meditative direction on Four Petals, his solo piano record built around his own original rhythmic system.
