Soyoung Park is a jazz vocalist, pianist and songwriter who was born in South Korea and works in New York. Her own website opens with the line "originally from South Korea", and no source gives her birth year or hometown, so those are left open here. She moved to Boston in 2008 to study piano and voice performance at Berklee College of Music, where, according to her biography on All About Jazz, she held the Asia Tour Scholarship, and she then completed a master's degree in jazz voice at the Manhattan School of Music in New York. The faculty listing at Muhlenberg College, where she is an instructor of jazz piano and jazz voice, adds a B.A. from Korea University to the Berklee and Manhattan School degrees. Her Hangul name is not given in any of the English-language sources.

Her debut album, Behind the Clouds, came out on the Danish label SteepleChase's LookOut imprint in 2023. Apple Music dates the release May 15, 2023, and retailers list the CD from June 2, 2023 under catalogue number SCCD 33149. It is a ten-song, 43-minute vocal record with a trio behind her: the pianist Cho Yoon-seung, billed on the cover as Yoonseung Cho, the bassist Changmin Jun and the drummer Jongkuk Kim. She sings and writes; the album description, which she supplied to All About Jazz, calls each of her compositions a snapshot of her experience: her love of the trumpeter and singer Chet Baker, her faith, the birth of her son, postpartum depression, her love of impressionism and the loss of a loved one. "Like a Rainbow" is a love song to her newborn son, written during her pregnancy. The title track is about looking at the hope behind the problems rather than the problems themselves, and the closing "Her Voice", sung in Korean as an intimate duo, is about her grandmother, who raised her and had been in hospital for a long time.

Before the album she released two short recordings in 2019. Sing the Spring, with the guitarist Junbeom Kim, has two songs, "You Make Me Feel Like Spring" and "West 100th Street"; her biography says she wrote a song and its lyrics and sang the vocals. As the Deer is credited to the vocalist Christie Dashiell and Park; it has three tracks, the hymn "As the Deer", "I Surrender All" and a Korean-language version of that song, and her biography says she produced, composed, arranged, played piano and sang on it. Her own website calls both of these albums, while the streaming services list them as short releases of two and three tracks.

Her competition and concert record rests mostly on her own biography. It says she was a top-six finalist in the 2016 Mid-Atlantic Jazz Voice competition and a semi-finalist in the 2016 Montreux Jazz Voice competition, that she was awarded at the Yoo Jaeha Music awards (details not given), and that she performed at Carnegie Hall in 2013 with the singer Kim Bum-soo and again in 2016 as the Soyoung Park Quartet. Her Muhlenberg faculty listing says she has performed with Bobby McFerrin and with Peter Eldridge. In New York she has been listed at Smalls Jazz Club on October 3, 2023 with her quartet, and SmallsLIVE archives a Mezzrow set from April 4, 2024 with the bassist Simón Willson and the drummer Peter Kronreif.

She has a second working life in Korean popular music. Since 2013, her biography says, she has played as a session pianist and music director for K-pop artists' concerts, among them Kim Bum-soo, Sohyang, Seomoon Tak, Cho Sung-mo and JK Kim Dong-wook. She has also sung on several Korean gospel and Christian singles by other artists: "By Faith" (2020, Hyejin Cho), "Anywhere with Jesus" (2021, Euiju Cheong) and "In His Time" (2026, Kenny Cha). Her biography says she now lives in both Korea and New York, and that in Korea she has taught at Howon University, Seoul Theological University and Baekseok Arts University. She should not be confused with the Seoul jazz singer Soyoung Heo, who is a different musician.

Where she was born, trained and is based: born in South Korea (by her own account); a B.A. from Korea University, according to her Muhlenberg listing; Berklee from 2008; Manhattan School of Music for her master's; based in New York, with teaching in the United States and in Korea.

Behind the Clouds is a vocal album with a piano trio. Its ten songs include titles such as "Skylark" and "Three-Note Samba" alongside others that her description frames as personal compositions; the listings do not give composer credits track by track. She names Chet Baker as a love, and the opening track is "Baker's Mood". The description praises a clear, well-tuned voice and harmonic progressions that follow the melody and lyrics, and a retailer describes the sound as clean with a slight huskiness; both are promotional wording rather than critical reviews. Faith runs through the record and through much of her other work, which includes the hymn arrangements on As the Deer and her gospel features.
