Yoshihito Eto, born April 14, 1973, in Suzuka, Mie Prefecture, turned professional with pianist Fumio Karashima's trio in 1996 and joined Sadao Watanabe's band in 1998, performing in numerous concerts including a Montreux Jazz Festival appearance. He later worked with Terumasa Hino's group and the Yosuke Inoue Quartet, and has been described as a drummer combining power with nuance.

From 2006 to 2015 he was the drummer for Yuji Ohno & Lupintic Five, the working combo behind composer Yuji Ohno's long-running Lupin III "Jazz" album series and film scores — a decade of steady studio and touring work for a genuinely mainstream franchise, run alongside his straight-ahead jazz career rather than in place of it. He also recorded Your Songs with vocalist Chie Ayado (1998), worked with the pop duo orange pekoe, and appears on saxophonist Naruyoshi Kikuchi's Degustation à Jazz sessions (2004).

He has led his own groups, a.t.m. (2003) and Karate Chops (2012), and released material under his own name including Animal House (2002, EWE Records) and Everything I Love (2023, a trio with Mayuko Katakura and Takumi Awaya). By most accounts he has released seven leader albums total, though not all are individually catalogued on Discogs. In 2025 he appeared on Ryo Fukui Trio at the Slowboat 2004, a posthumous release documenting a live concert by the late pianist Ryo Fukui. He remains an active recording musician.

Eto's playing bridges the straight-ahead jazz tradition of his early sideman work with Sadao Watanabe and Terumasa Hino and the more song-oriented, groove-conscious demands of soundtrack and pop-adjacent session work — a range visible across his catalog from Montreux-stage jazz to Lupin III's screen-ready jazz combo sound.
