On October 18, 1962, Stanley Turrentine brought his brother, trumpeter Tommy Turrentine, to Rudy Van Gelder’s studio in Englewood Cliffs for Blue Note, with guitarist Kenny Burrell, pianist Sonny Clark, bassist Butch Warren and drummer Al Harewood. The session log runs to take 29 across six titles, including “Jubilee Shout,” “Brother Tom,” “Cotton Walk,” “My Ship” and “You Said It.” None of it came out in 1962. A selection first reached the public on the 1978 double LP Jubilee Shouts, and the album as such, Jubilee Shout!!!, did not appear until 1986. Clark died in New York on January 13, 1963, less than three months later.
