Electro Swing

1 profile tagged Electro Swing, A-Z.

Electro swing developed from the 1990s onward, initially as an offshoot of the nu jazz and house scenes when producers began pairing vintage swing and hot-jazz recordings or instrumentation with house, breakbeat, and hip-hop production techniques; the French group Caravan Palace helped crystallize the sound from 2008 onward. Unlike a straight swing band, it centers on electronic beats, sampled or synthesized elements, and DJ-oriented production layered under swing-era horn lines, vocal samples, or hot-club-style guitar. The style reached mainstream chart success in 2010 with Yolanda Be Cool's We No Speak Americano, and Parov Stelar is another widely cited pioneer.
