Guy Kark is not a jazz musician. He's a composer and the founder and artistic director of cross-cultural world music ensembles bringing together Jewish and Arab musical traditions, a graduate of the Rubin Academy of Music in Jerusalem's classical Arab music department under Taisir Elias and Dahlia Cohen, and a former visiting artist at Paris's Cité des Arts.

His main project, Guy Kark & Between Times, is one of Israel's leading world music groups, with Kark writing most of the material and playing guitar, oud, and percussion. Their 1999 album Canaan, thirteen tracks reflecting the texture and color of the biblical region, drew praise from Ma'ariv, Haaretz, and the Jerusalem Post.

He has one real, dated jazz credit: bassist Ehud Ettun, already profiled on jazzprofiles.com, played double bass on Between Times' 2010 self-released album 4 Quarters.

Kark's work sits in world music and cross-cultural composition, drawing on classical Arab music training and Jewish musical traditions, entirely outside jazz idiom. The Ehud Ettun credit is the single point of overlap between his catalog and this project.
